The touring company of the broadway musical Sister Act opened last night in Portland at the Keller Auditorium. Its veteran cast Ta’Rea Campbell as Deloirs, Hollis Resnik as Mother Superior, and Melvin Abston as Curtis Jackson gave an impressive performance of singing and dancing, in this movie turned stage musical. The opening musical number captured the audience, but the droll dialogue and lame jokes slowed it down. The real stars of any live musical is the orchestra and its leader Brent-Alan Huffman, who were a strong component of the performance. Sister Act in Portland ends April 6th.
