Cirque Du Soleil Returns to PDX

Cirque du Soleil Back In Portland

By DC Rahe

Somewhere between science and legend, TOTEM explores the ties that bind Man to other species, his dreams and his infinite potential.

Explore this journey as Cirque du Soleil opens its newest big top production TOTEM on March 27 at the Portland Expo Center in North Portland The show traces the fascinating journey of the human species from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. The characters evolve on a stage evoking a giant turtle, the symbol of origin for many ancient civilizations. Inspired by many founding myths, TOTEM illustrates, through a visual and acrobatic language, the evolutionary progress of species.

Cirque du Soleil benefits the local community by hiring 150 to 200 locals to run its operations when it is performing in Portland. Cirque du Soleil also supports local charities such as The Circus Project, that works with more than 600 homeless and at-risk youth to reach out to the community through the production of original, theatrical performances. In addition, all the money from the ticket sales of the 8 p.m. show on April 18 will benefit The Circus Project. Cirque du Soleil is more than a show- it’s an experience not to be missed.
