Plastic Surgery Group Open New Practice

Three Portland-area Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons Open New Practice in Northwest Portland

Portland Plastic Surgery Group (PPSG) has just opened its doors in a new, state-of-the-art 5,400 square-foot suite in the historic Albers Mill building.

Drs. Yale S. Popowich, Shannon O’Brien and H. Daniel Zegzula formed PPSG to offer area patients a full suite of cosmetic and reconstructive surgical procedures under one roof.

This talented team is trained in leading-edge plastic surgery procedures and techniques, all three surgeons are board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). The team offers patients nearly 30 years of combined experience.

“It’s important to choose a plastic surgeon who is board-certified in plastic surgery,” explains Dr. Yale Popowich. “The certification requires rigorous training and testing—it’s difficult to get. Patients can count on quality care.”

Portland Plastic Surgery Group’s mission is to deliver expert, personalized cosmetic and reconstructive procedures that help patients achieve beautiful results and improved self-confidence.

“We collaborate to come up with the best solutions for each patient,” says Dr. Shannon O’Brien. “Patients benefit from an experienced team of caring, compassionate surgeons.”

“We deeply care about each patient’s outcome,” adds Dr. H. Daniel Zegula, who has been honored several times as a “Top Doc” by Portland Monthly magazine.

A large part of PPSG’s practice is devoted to patients with breast cancer who will be undergoing mastectomy, thus requiring the team’s skills in reconstructive surgery. PPSG’s practice covers the entire breadth of plastic surgery including:

• Cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery
• Body contouring
• Liposuction
• Facial cosmetic surgery
• Non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures
• A variety of skin care products

Dr. Yale S. Popowich was born and raised in Philadelphia, the youngest of three children. His path to medicine was unorthodox, having worked in independent film on such projects as “A Room with a View,” “Salaam Bombay,” “Drugstore Cowboy” and “Stop Making Sense.” Yale’s appreciation for the arts combined with his love of medicine made a career in plastic surgery a natural fit for him.

In particular, Dr. Popowich devotes a large part of his practice to patients with breast cancer who will be undergoing mastectomy, thus requiring his reconstructive skills. As a cancer survivor himself, he works closely with each patient to help her attain her goals in a safe, caring way.

His interests include a strong passion and commitment to the arts, his children’s school, crossfit, tennis and the outdoors. He and his wife Tina have been married for 20 years and have two boys, Harry and Julian, ages 9 and 12. They are also the proud parents to Winston, their English bulldog.
